Over the past sixty four years, the SFCDMA has distinguished itself by drawing together the disparate merchants associations in the neighborhood commercial districts of San Francisco. Together, they have advocated for street lighting, traffic control, parking, and legislation to improve the business climate in the City.
The membership represents a variety of local businesses including an eclectic mix of food and drink, salons, spas, healers, retailers, schools, business services, entertainment and more. The Mission is to protect, preserve, and promote small businesses in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Council of District Merchants has entered into a partnership with The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce which will enhance benefits to all members. This partnership will allow both organizations to extend their outreach into the ever-growing small business community, as well as provide more robust resources for small businesses and offer exclusive event opportunities for networking, knowledge enhancement, and more.
SFCDMA President Henry Karnilowicz and Secretary Vas Kiniris both attended the ISMA Streetscape Construction meeting where they were able to see and hear details from SFMTA and DPW regarding the up-coming projects on Irving and Judah Streets.
At a recent Council meeting with Uber, sponsors of the Council, they are reportedly considering offering discounts to people traveling to and shopping in Association Member areas for Small Business Week and Small Business Saturday.
We will keep our ISMA members informed about upcoming opportunities to participate in City wide events, and you can expect that we will be hosting our own Inner Sunset event in the coming months.
